Meetings
Meetings
  • WHO: Our meetings are open to People With Parkinsons (PWP) and those who care for and about them.
  • WHAT: Sometimes we have guest speakers who talk about Parkinson’s-specific topics. Sometimes we discuss PD-related issues among ourselves.

WHEN: For most of the year we meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 1:00pm to 2:45pm. That’s our schedule fall through spring. During the summer – June, July & August – we meet once a month, on the 1st Tuesdays.

**WHERE:* In these days of Covid, we meet online via Zoom. Join uc! To attend a meeting - contact Dave Mauney in advance at dave@towndock.net and he'll send you the invite you'll need to sign in).
  • 2019 MEETINGS:*
  • August 6 – Our featured speaker will be Gina Woody of ECU College of Nursing. An RN with both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, she will offer a nursing perspective on meeting the special needs of People with Parkinson’s while staying in the hospital.
  • September 17 – The Parkinson’s Foundation estimates that when people with Parkinson’s are hospitalized, only 25% of them will get their PD meds on time and at the right dosage. 3/4 do not, which can have dire consequences – imagine one long ‘off-period.’ To try to fix that, the PF has put together Aware in Care kits – free to anyone with PD – to take with them when they go to the hospital. Several members of Pamlico Parkinson’s are now actively working to spread the word to other PD communItIes and medical professionals throughout Eastern NC. Diane Russell and Dave Mauney will make their Aware in Care presentation at our September 17 meeting.
